DIY Halloween tin can candle holder
Want to reduce recycle bin clutter and turn it into a fun and kid friendly Halloween craft? Dig up those empty tin cans and grab your paint brushes because we’re turning them into Halloween candle holders.
Super easy, cute and quick, these candle holders are a great accompaniment to your jack-o-lanterns out on the porch or as Halloween decor on your mantel.
- Empty tin cans, clean and dry
- Acrylic paint and brush (spray paint optional)
- Sharpie marker
- Tea light candles
1 Paint your tin can. You can either use acrylic paint or spray paint. When finished painting, leave the can upright on newspaper to dry. If you’re in a time crunch, you can use a hair dryer on a low setting to speed up the drying process.
2 Use a Sharpie marker to draw and fill in your design. Make sure not to press too hard or you may strip off the paint. If this happens you can do touch ups with a paint brush, or you can skip the Sharpie all together and just use paint. If you want to do something more intricate, lightly draw out your design with a pencil, then go over with Sharpie/paint.
3 Place a candle inside, light and enjoy!
Note: the tin can gets hot when the candle has been lit for a while, so be aware and make sure it’s out of children’s reach.
