UsedWinnipeg.com coincidently in the family-friendly war?
Canada’s biggest online classifieds players battling for the family-friendly title. Local UsedWinnipeg.com being pulled in?
VICTORIA, British Columbia – August 16, 2010 – Today online classifieds giant craigslist published the blog post “Family Friendly” eBay classifieds. The giants have been blog-battling as well as Facebook-fanfeuding over who’s more family-friendly all day. However, when locally focused UsedWinnipeg.com, part of Used.ca, posted a two-paragraph blog in the morning, entitled The “Family Friendly” Feud (http://uedev.bpsrvr.com/2010/08/16/the-family-friendly-feud/), later that afternoon the site was coincidently spammed with approximately 50 pornographic ads with graphic pictures and text for the first time ever. The company’s spam-filtering systems found the spam immediately, took the site down temporarily, weeded out the ads, and thanked its users through social media channels for calling in and emailing their customer support.
Used.ca was founded in 2003 with the vision that an effective, free, online marketplace for the sale of used goods would reduce landfill content and benefit the environment. Used.ca’s network of websites across Canada, and US and the UK has now become the most efficient platform for buyers to connect with private and commercial sellers to find what they want in their local community.
