Used.ca Gets into the Holiday Spirit by Participating in Toy Drives from Coast to Coast

Victoria, B.C. – November 26, 2012

‘Tis the season for giving and the Used.ca network of Canadian online classified sites and its local teams are chipping in by helping out with toy drives on PEI and in Victoria.
On the East coast, UsedPEI.com is hosting the ‘UsedPEI.com Toy Drive’ at ‘That Fun Place’ in Charlottetown. On December 8th from 12-4pm, PEI residents are encouraged to bring new and gently used toys to the Drop-off box at 401 Capital Drive, off the North River Causeway. Everyone who donates a toy will be entered to win a family pass for ‘That Fun Place’ (pass is good for up to 6 kids). Toys collected will be given to the Chances Family Centre, Summerside Schools and the Island Pregnancy Centre.
On the West coast from, December 10th-12th, UsedVictoria.com will be providing transportation for the Annual Salvation Army Toy Drive with the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy. It’s a very popular concert series featuring holiday favourites at the Royal Theatre on Dec. 10th, 11th, and 12th at 7:30pm. Concert attendees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy on performance nights. All proceeds will go to the Salvation Army.
“We are honored to be part of these very worthwhile initiatives in two of our favourite parts of the country,” says Erin Richards, Marketing Coordinator at Used.ca. “We hope the generosity of our local users and community residents will bring joy to many children on PEI and in Victoria.”

Beyond the toy drives, the holiday season is a busy time on Used.ca and its network of local Canadian sites. There is a rise in toy listings each December as Canadians look to earn extra income to buy gifts by listing their kids’ used and outgrown toys for sale.
Canadians parents can clear space in their basements and garages by listing toys, games and video games (that are no longer played with), and at the same time earn some cash to buy gifts and help cover extra expenses that come up over the holidays.
“Not only can parents make some extra money this holiday season, but they can also de-clutter in the process,” says Richards. “Parents can feel great about the fact that their toys will find a good home and be put to good use, and they can shop for updated used toys for their kids.”
It’s a great time to save by searching for heavily discounted gently used toys that other kids have outgrown. Video games are popular as well. Parents can search for used games rather than buying expensive new game titles that can often cost over $50 each.
To find toys for your kids visit your local city site and search for ‘toys’, ‘toy’ or the name of the toy or game that you are looking for.
