How to: share your ad on Twitter and Facebook


Everyone seems to be flocking to social media applications like Facebook and Twitter, and for good reason. They’re a great way to stay in touch with friends, keep up with community events, and spread the word about your latest endeavor. They’re also an excellent medium to advertise your latest ad on If you’re not quite up to speed with the social media buzz, worry not… just follow these simple steps and you’ll be publicizing your goods in no time.

Step 1) Find your ad. You can search for your ad in the top right hand corner of your local site using keywords or the ID number that was emailed to you when your ad was posted.
*Steps 2 through 4 describe how to share your ad on Twitter. Skip to Step 5 if you want to share your ad on Facebook.
Step 2) Below the picture of your item there is a heading that reads “Share via.” Click on the Twitter link.
Step 3) You will then be asked to log in to your Twitter account, or register for one if you do not have an account already. Fill in the appropriate boxes with your username/email and password, and click the “Sign In” button.
Step 4) Once logged in to Twitter, a message similar to the one shown below will automatically be posted into your message box. Either click the “Tweet” button to post the message as is, or personalize the Tweet by adding your own message. Once you’ve clicked the “Tweet” button your message will be posted for all to see!
Step 5) If you’d like to post your ad on Facebook for all of your friends to see, click the “Share via Facebook” button on your ad’s page.
Step 6) A new window will then open which will ask you to log in to your Facebook account (if you do not have a Facebook account you can click the “Sign up for Facebook” link on the bottom right of the pop up).
Step 7) Once logged in, you will have the option to personalize your post with a message of your own. Facebook will automatically include a link and picture in your post, so once you are ready to post your ad, click on the “Share” button at the bottom of the window.
You’ve done it! Your ad is now surfing the social media wave for all of your friends, family, and coworkers to see.
