Are you a Langford Original? Sarah wants to meet you!

Hometown pride is a special thing that brings people together. Sarah Zimmer with Langford Original has noticed that kind of pride is very real on the West Shore.

A retired 25-year military member who grew up in Kimberley, B.C. and moved to Langford nine years ago, Zimmer sees similarities between her hometown and her current home.

All the people I met when I moved here, I just loved how close they were. It reminded me of a small town,” she says. “Walking into a corner store and seeing people all know each other, that’s rare in bigger cities.”

Langford embracing hometown products

After Zimmer found a hat she really liked on a visit to Kimberley a few years back, she was determined to create a line of comfortable clothing for all seasons that tapped into that hometown pride, and Langford Original was born. “When I was younger, I loved different brands when they came out. I wanted to build a brand that people love,” she says.

The logo, featuring the ubiquitous plaid jackshirt, speaks to the coziness and familiarity of the product line, which is growing with community awareness of the brand, Zimmer says.

A brand you can call your own

From men’s and women’s warm plaid jackets and sweatshirts to summer T-shirts and tank tops – and of course, the ever-popular hats – there’s something for everyone with Langford Original. There’s even a kids and babies product line for your little ones, and a selection of LO coffee mugs and wine glasses with a lid are coming soon!

New brand features other artisans

You may have seen Zimmer’s food truck-sized van emblazoned with “LO Collective by Langford Original” around the West Shore and beyond. She has partnered with five other female entrepreneurs to create an expanded brand that allows local artisans to showcase their products alongside Langford Original’s mainstay clothing line inside the van/retail shop.

Watch for LO at the markets

Like many creators of unique products, Zimmer has a busy market schedule heading into Christmas. She’ll be at the Winter Fair in Tillicum Centre on Nov. 16 and 17, then head to the Magic of Christmas Craft Fair at Langford’s City Centre Park the evening of Nov. 22 and all day Nov. 23. With product offerings reflecting the changing season, you’ll find a good cross-section of colours and styles available. And if you don’t see what you want, ask about ordering options!

Sip and shop at home with friends

If you’d rather not venture too far from home, Zimmer will bring the LO van showroom to you! Email her at sarah@langfordoriginal.com or call direct at 250-886-3228 to inquire about social shopping events for you and your group. Ask about purchase discounts for party hosts!
