We are seeking an experienced Claims Handler Supervisor to lead and support our claims team. This role is responsible for overseeing daily claims operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving high-quality customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of claims handlers, providing guidance and performance management
- Oversee the handling of auto claims from FNOL (First Notice of Loss) through to resolution
- Ensure claims are managed in accordance with internal policies, insurer guidelines, and BC regulatory requirements
- Review complex or escalated claims and provide direction on coverage and settlement decisions
- Monitor team productivity, service levels, and quality metrics
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with broker partners and internal stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of claims handling experience, with a focus on personal auto
- CIP designation
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of insurance principles and claims practices in British Columbia
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations (e.g., fair claims handling, privacy requirements)
- Excellent communication, coaching, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
- Experience in an MGA environment
- Exposure to delegated authority claims handling
