Vintage Lane Cedar Chest - Canadian Knechtel's - Restoration Project

Beautifully constructed cedar interior with original Lane/Knechtel's maker's mark and patent markings. Includes the original lift-out divided storage tray with burgundy felt lining.

The chest was painted cream/white by a family member in approximately the 1960s. The paint now has chips, scratches and wear, as shown in the photographs. The original wood remains underneath, making this a wonderful candidate for stripping and refinishing.
Particularly attractive traditional shape with moulded detailing, shaped apron and feet. The cedar interior remains beautiful and gives a good indication of the quality of the original piece.
A lovely restoration project, or perfectly usable as-is for blanket, linen or general storage.

NB: the auto-locking latch on this chest is not working so does not fall foul of the pre-1987 recall.

Condition: Structurally very sound with age-related wear and significant wear/chipping to the later painted exterior. Please see photographs. Interior presents very well.
