Japanese pieris (also known as Japanese andromeda and lily-of-the-valley shrub)

Mature! 17 plus years old. 4-5 feet tall, will keep growing if not trimmed. Foliage: New growth emerges in vibrant shades of, red, in early spring, gradually deepening to a lustrous glossy green as the season progresses.
Flowers: It produces cascading, bell-shaped white flowers in late winter to early spring.
Care: It prefers acidic, well-drained soil and partial shade but this one is full sun exposed, making it ideal for the damp, cool conditions common in BC gardens.
