Augarten is Europe's second-oldest porcelain manufacturer, founded in Vienna, Austria, in 1718. The "Wien" mark indicates it was made in Vienna. The blue shield logo is from the coat of arms of the Dukes of Austria, adopted when the factory was taken under Imperial ownership by Empress Maria Theresia in 1744. Many of their pieces feature hand-painted floral designs with gold trim, as this one does.
