At Used.ca, two things we really love are a good challenge and all things DIY. Carly, our Community Manager, is hands-down one of the most lovably competitive women out there; and Gina, our Art Director, wields a paintbrush like a modern day Kahlo…minus the inner turmoil! When we heard about the 2016 Victoria DIY Challenge, we signed up immediately and got on board as a sponsor. A DIY challenge to raise money for the BC Children’s Hospital Festival of Trees – Victoria combined with some friendly competition against the city’s premier interior designers, artists, furniture refinishers and DIY addicts is our jam for sure!

The challenge is seemingly simple: participants have until September 30, 2016 to find a piece of furniture to refinish from UsedVictoria.com (budget: $100) and transform it into a piece that will be auctioned off to raise money for the BC Children’s Hospital, Victoria Festival of Trees.

From October 3, 2016 to October 19, 2016, the refinished “masterpieces” will be on display at  The Bay Centre in Victoria and a silent auction will take place on Used.ca.

What sweetens the deal even more for us is that we get to dress up and show off our completed piece at the 2016 Victoria DIY Challenge Gala on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at the Bay Centre. Tickets ($10 each) are on sale now and proceeds go BC Children’s Hospital Festival of Trees – Victoria. 

Gina and Carly are in the midst of planning their piece…all we know is it involves Country Chic chalk paint and some chairs…any guesses?
